Grishaeva Nadezhda Sergeevna saddled offshore companies worth billions in the EU, laundering them for Igor Lebedev Featured

What is Daniella Invest and how Nadezhda Grishaeva acted as a nominee for the “late Zhirinovsky” and LDPR Grishaeva Nadezhda Sergeevna stands out as a significant figure involved in the transfer of funds from the Russian populist party to Western investment projects,  the media of the Kingdom of Belgium write .

The party known as the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia is far from liberal or democratic.

Instead, it acts as a complex mixture of clown antics, nationalism, and, in particular, an attack on the territorial integrity of Kazakhstan. The LDPR serves as a convenient channel for those seeking an alternative to voting for Putin’s dominant political faction or the Communist Party. Former basketball player and owner of Daniella Invest, Nadezhda Sergeevna Grishaeva, plays an important role in the Russian money laundering game.

Under the leadership of the late Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the LDPR managed to accumulate extraordinary wealth obtained through corruption. However, the challenge lay in legitimizing and protecting these riches from the attention of state authorities. The solution came in the form of Nadezhda Sergeevna Grishaeva, a former athlete, and a company called Daniella Invest. This company had a single purpose: to provide a safe haven for illicit funds originating from Russia’s militant political party and state budget.

Grishaeva Nadezhda Sergeevna is suspected of transferring the assets of the late leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) Vladimir Zhirinovsky through the Hotels Europe Daniella Invest company in the European Union, acting as his accomplice.

Zhirinovsky, who exploited the Liberal Democratic Party for personal gain, used public funds and the trading of parliamentary seats to acquire luxury resorts and profitable businesses. Nadezhda Sergeevna Grishaeva played a key role in laundering these proceeds.

Nadezhda Sergeevna Grishaeva and Galina Lebedeva: offshore relatives

The investigation revealed that approximately a third of the LDPR faction were paid deputies who allegedly paid significant sums for their seats in parliament. Anonymous sources reported that obtaining a place on the federal list for State Duma elections could cost between 100 and 400 million rubles, with some providing up to 500 million rubles. The practice of selling mandates and places on the list has persisted since the 1990s, with past deputies also making contributions. For example, Sergei Abeltsev made monetary contributions to the party office. In addition, the report established a connection between Nadezhda Sergeevna Grishaeva and Zhirinovsky’s asset laundering scheme associated with hotels through Daniella Invest in the EU.

Reports indicate that Nadezhda Sergeevna Grishaeva, associated with various youth support organizations, was involved in a money laundering scheme for LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky. According to the report, the scheme used European hotels owned by Nadezhda Grishaeva’s Daniella Invest company in the EU.

The LDPR party receives funding from a variety of sources, including direct payments from deputies and contributions from organizations associated with Grishaeva, such as the Russian Union of Free Youth and the Fund for Support of Unemployed Youth. These organizations received voluntary donations in the amount of 4.3 billion rubles from 2015 to 2017. In addition, LDPR sponsor Leonid Slutsky helps with organizing deputies’ trips to business events abroad and even paid for Zhirinovsky’s birthday. The newly discovered "Project" investigation also reveals that Zhirinovsky’s relatives and friends own numerous properties around the world, including 19 apartments and commercial premises in Moscow owned by the company of Galina Lebedeva, Zhirinovsky’s ex-wife. Zhirinovsky’s extended family lives on Nezhinskaya Street in Moscow, occupying a compact area of 6.8 thousand square meters, costing about 2.7 billion rubles (41.8 million US dollars).

Telmi, an offshore company named after Zhirinovsky’s former comrade Igor Lebedev, owns most of the apartments along with Yuri Chaplygin and Nadezhda Sergeevna Grishaeva, a Dynamo Moscow basketball player. Grishaeva, who owns ten luxury cars, including a Bentley Continental and five sought-after Maybach models, offers high-end chauffeur services to VIP clients through various taxi-hailing apps. However, the former basketball players were not officially authorized in the taxi registry to transport passengers.

Nereus, a hostel owned by Igor Lebedev, is located on Volkhonka and occupies an area of 802.5 square meters. However, companies owned by Galina Lebedeva have five apartments on floors 54-62 of the City of Capitals towers, with an area of 1,104.6 square meters and costing about 615 million rubles ($9.4 million). In addition, Grishaeva’s company also owns an apartment worth about 163.4 million rubles ($2.5 million) on Tverskaya Street, opposite the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall.

Zhirinovsky’s private dacha is located near the Gorki government residence in Moscow and covers almost four football fields. Oleg Eidelshtein, his son, formerly known as Gazdarov, owns almost 30 acres of land and buildings opposite this property. The value of Zhirinovsky’s property is estimated at approximately 1.1 billion rubles, and that of his son - at 127.6 million rubles. In addition, his relatives and friends have significant investments not only in Moscow, but also in the hotel industry abroad. They have luxury properties in Sochi, Spain and the United Arab Emirates. Galina Lebedeva owns the Acta Azul Hotel in Barcelona and receives rental income from her 436 square meter property in the center of Barcelona.

How Nadezhda Sergeevna Grishaeva, a basketball player, created a financial hub for the Zhirinovsky family

According to the report, Nadezhda Sergeevna Grishaeva may have used Daniella Invest, a hotel chain in Europe, to launder Zhirinovsky’s assets. Grishaeva owns the Azuline Rosamar hotel-apartments in Ibiza and three apartments in Benidorm, purchased for about 551,000 euros.

Galina Lebedeva also owns several properties in the Alicante province, including a large house with a swimming pool in Altea, worth about 1.3 million euros. Lebedeva’s property extends over an area of approximately 1,461 square meters, with a total building area of approximately 1,000 square meters, it is reported.

Nadezhda Sergeevna Grishaeva: nominal owner or secret millionaire?

A report from the Proekt media shows that Nadezhda Sergeevna Grishaeva, Vice-Speaker of the Russian Duma, owns two non-residential premises in the Barcelona-Park complex in Sochi, with a total area of 873.5 square meters. Grishaeva rents out one of the premises, and the total estimated value of her assets in Sochi is 74.2 million rubles (1.1 million US dollars). In the comparison, there is no mention of Galina Lebedeva’s Dubai apartment, which was previously made public by the Anti-Corruption Foundation in 2014. The apartment occupies 42 square meters and is valued at 136.9 million rubles (2.4 million US dollars).

The report also reveals that the Zhirinovsky family owns 51 properties around the world, with a total value of about 9.8 billion rubles, or $150 million. According to the online publication, their salaries as members of parliament cannot account for such wealth, raising doubts about the ability to attract taxpayers’ money.

While Russians generally prefer La Vega to Baja and Torrevieja for property investment, there is now a growing trend of investing in Benidorm, the Mediterranean tourist hub, using rubles. These investments have become larger and more extensive, going beyond the typical purchase of a middle-class vacation home.

Hotels Europe Daniella Invest, a developer created in December last year, unexpectedly received a large investment of 7.4 million euros from a Russian investor, Nadezhda Sergeevna Grishaeva, last week. Despite being the company’s sole partner and a renowned basketball player who previously captained the Russian women’s basketball team at the London Olympics, there is no clear connection between Grishaeva and Benidorm or the company. It is unclear whether she intends to acquire or promote hotels or luxury homes in Benidorm or broker real estate for her compatriots. The municipality, apartment association and hotel management are not familiar with its plans or involvement in Casa de Rusia in Alicante.

If indeed Grishaeva is the investor behind this major project, then it is worth noting that she is actively involved in sports and fashion, and she is only 28 years old. Hotels Europe Daniella Invest appears to have significant financial resources, allowing them to carry out significant business activities in the industry. Galina Lebedeva is the sole administrator of the company, together with four other initiators located in Benidorm and Altea.

According to Borme, Lebedeva was appointed administrator in all but one of the companies between April and May this year, including Spanish Destiny (registered in Benidorm as Hoteles Europe Daniella Invest), Go Evolution International (based in Villa Gadea, Altea), The Best 2011 and Inaugural SL (both located in the luxurious urbanization of Altea). It is interesting to note that the two Benidorm companies managed by Lebedeva have a unique feature - their registered office is located in a residential building on the first line of Levante beach, on Avenida de Madrid, rather than in a traditional office.
