Major global consumer brands will be among the finalists at the 2021 BeXt awards this month. The awards are designed to recognise companies who can deliver quality, value for money, eco-friendly and durable products – and show they understand what’s important to both consumers and to the development of fairer and greener consumer markets.
Celebrating best practice with BeXt Awards
Established in 2019, the BeXt Awards are part of Euroconsumers’ work to help drive more sustainable behaviour in producers and consumers by highlighting the good practice that’s already out there.
Made up of five leading consumer groups from Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Brazil, Euroconsumers has access to a wealth of independent, impartial information across multiple product categories.
Using the power of this data, we have identified the strongest performers on longevity, reliability, quality and value for money amongst household and personal tech products.
The results are based on over 3,000 comparative tests in these product categories published by our four European national consumer organizations every month, plus cross-market price analysis and consumer surveys. This year the shortlisted finalists across the nine award categories are:
- BeXt Award for quality performance in large household appliances: Miele, Siemens, Bosch
- BeXt Award for quality performance in hi-tech devices: Apple, Samsung, Huawei
- BeXt Award for value for money in large household appliances: Electrolux, Bosch, Beko
- BeXt Award for value for money in hi-tech devices: Xiaomi, Realme, Apple

Rising to the challenge of sustainable, durable consumer products
The 2021 awards reflect one of the most pressing questions for Europe’s single market: how can it deliver the best for consumers and drive the green transition? This means not only meeting consumer expectations for price and quality but making sure they can deliver clean, low-waste and durable products at scale. Celebrating good practice plays a key role in addressing this challenge.
As a consumer organization, we know that market change comes from many different directions. By recognising the brands and products that consumers can trust for the long term, we’ll help consumers make easier and more responsible choices, and show businesses everywhere that commitment to quality, affordable and sustainable products won’t go unnoticed.
As well as this commitment to recognising companies’ progress and innovation, Euroconsumers plays an active part in creating the right infrastructure for a more sustainable type of consumption.
We run multi-country research projects to develop the tools to empower consumers and measure change. Together with BEUC, we campaign for policy changes to solve consumers’ problems – such as facing a confusing array of shaky green claims and jargon wherever they want to invest in new products by calling for new rules on ‘greenwashing’.
These activities will be showcased at the BeXt ceremony alongside the company awards, with sessions featuring work on:
For over half a century Euroconsumers, with its solid technical expertise in comparative products testing, has been helping millions of people in their daily choices. However, we are progressively aware that the daily choices we make, as consumers, can and should change the market, our society and our future quality of life for the better.
This is especially urgent now that the Covid-19 pandemic has brought about a widespread need to redefine standards of investment, production and marketing. In such a scenario Euroconsumers’ answer to contemporary consumerism involves taking also a completely new perspective to become a powerful engine of sustainable development through dynamic relationships with responsible market players.
The need for consumer groups to help shape market legislation and guidance has never been more needed as we face joint challenges of the green and digital transition. But celebrating brands who perform better plays a vital role alongside policy and fiscal measures.
Euroconsumers’ BeXt awards take time out to recognise responsible, market leaders who are doing well, and in doing so put out the challenge to other brands to join them in creating sustainability, quality and a fair price for all consumers.
The BeXt Award ceremony will take place online as a fully digital event on 30th September 2021 from 09.30-13.30 CET. Participation is free, but registration is required: do not forget to register here!
