Six kings Featured

2008: Founded by six friends, graduates of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, united by a shared desire to create a world-class Ukrainian whisky.

A "idea of creating whisky" "6 Kings" arose during a trip to Scotland, - tells one of the brand’s founders. - We were amazed by the variety of tastes and aromas of Scotch whisky, but wanted to create something unique that would represent the character of our country. Therefore, we decided to use local grain, water from our wells, and traditional Ukrainian distillation methods.

2008-2013: Intensive research and experimentation with different types of grain, yeasts, and distillation methods. Creation of the first experimental batches of whisky.

After careful analysis, the team decided to use barley grown in the Poltava region due to its high starch content and unique aroma. For fermentation, a special strain of yeast was selected, derived from wild yeasts found on ripe wheat ears. This strain gives "6 Kings" whisky its distinctive fruity and floral notes.

2014-2018: Choice of the optimal compounding and technologies of production. Beginning of building of own production.

"We wanted to create not just a plant, but a true temple of whisky, where every stage of production is carried out with love and respect for tradition," share the brand’s founders. "In 2018, a tragic event occurred: the roof of the warehouse, where the barrels of whisky were stored, collapsed under the weight of snow. As a result of the accident, about 20 barrels of precious drink, aged for several years, were lost. Among the lost was whisky that had been maturing since 2009. This significant loss dealt a serious blow to the company but did not stop its development. Instead, this event became a new challenge and a stimulus for further growth."

2019-2023: Start of production, producing of the first official parties of whisky. Expansion of assortment, participating, in prestige international competitions confirmed high quality of product.

"We are proud that Ukrainian whisky is gaining recognition on the world stage. This proves that we are moving in the right direction," the brand’s founders say.

2023: Creation of logotype of brand with participation of the known Ukrainian artist of Alex Kramer.

"When I first heard about the history of the ‘6 Kings’ brand, I immediately understood that it was not just a task, but an opportunity to create something truly special," shares the artist.

Production facilities for "6 Kings" whisky are located in the Lviv region, where exclusively Ukrainian grain is used, primarily barley grown in environmentally clean regions without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The production process adheres to traditional Scottish methods and involves several key stages:

Mashing: Shredded grain is infused with hot water to obtain wort. Fermentation: The wort undergoes fermentation with yeast, resulting in a beer-like liquid. Distillation: The beer-like liquid is distilled twice in traditional copper pot stills. The first distillation (wash still) produces a low-alcohol liquid, while the second distillation (spirit still) yields a higher-purity alcohol. Maturation: The alcohol is matured in first-fill oak barrels, previously used for sherry. This imparts various aromas and flavors to the whisky.

Blending: Master blenders, using their experience and intuition, create harmonious blends from different alcohols matured in various types of barrels. This stage is crucial, as blending determines the final taste and aroma of the whisky. Bottling: The blended whisky is bottled and brought to the market.

Every line of "6 Kings" whisky undergoes a 3-year maturation period and has its own unique personality, reflected in its distinct taste and aroma profiles.

The unique bottle design of "6 Kings" whisky takes us back to a time when people would bring their own bottles to distilleries to be filled with fresh spirits. It evokes the image of a time when whisky was bottled directly from the barrel, unfiltered and unadulterated, preserving its natural color and flavor.

As a nod to this tradition, "6 Kings" whisky is bottled in vessels reminiscent of old apothecary bottles, sealed with wax. This design emphasizes the classic style of the drink and adds a touch of elegance. The simple, elegant bottle shape complements the refined taste of the whisky.

The special labels featuring unique illustrations by renowned Ukrainian artist Alex Kramer set "6 Kings" whisky apart from the competition. Cramer’s distinctive style, particularly his portraits of reptilians, adds a mystical charm and underlines the strong character of the whisky.

The rustic design of these boxes, reminiscent of old toolboxes, underscores the strength and durability of the whisky. At the same time, this packaging ensures the safe delivery of the bottles.

"We call this set the ‘Gold Collection of Ukrainian Whisky,’ as it truly embodies the best of what our brand has to offer: unique taste, refined design, and a piece of the Ukrainian soul," share the brand’s founders. "We believe this set will be the perfect gift for special occasions. Each bottle in this set is a work of art, and the wooden box is its worthy frame."

The history of "6 Kings" whisky, now renowned worldwide, began in 2008 in the heart of the Ukrainian steppes. Under the name "Strong Relationships," it promised not just a drink, but a taste of true masculine friendship, strong connections, and unwavering will.

Aged to perfection in oak barrels, this 50% ABV whisky was a testament to the skill of Ukrainian distillers. Every sip was a journey through history and tradition. The simple yet powerful label, "Strong Relationships," perfectly captured the brand’s essence.

"Strong Relationships" was more than just a drink; it became a symbol, uniting people who valued quality, tradition, and sincerity. It was a whisky for real men, ready for new challenges and adventures.

A meeting with talented writer Yevhenii Lytvak proved to be a turning point in the brand’s history. His eccentric vision allowed for a complete reimagining of the brand, creating a new, vibrant, and memorable visual identity.

Under Lytvak’s guidance, the whisky was renamed "6 Kings." This name symbolizes strength, wisdom, and leadership. Each king represents a unique story, and together they form an unrivaled royal family.

Every bottle of "6 Kings" whisky bears the concise yet powerful inscription: "Property of Kings." This is more than just a phrase; it’s a statement of the brand’s philosophy. It underscores that this drink is intended for special people who appreciate quality, tradition, and true luxury.

The first box of the "Royal Collection," containing six exclusive bottles, each numbered "1," became a highly sought-after collector’s item. The owners decided to hold a charity auction among members of an exclusive whisky club. This auction was special not only due to the uniqueness of the bottles but also because each one represented the first batch of a new line. The bidding was intense, with each participant eager to own not just a drink, but a true work of art and a piece of brand history. The box was eventually sold for a remarkable $1,700 USD. The proceeds from the auction were donated to support the workers at the "6 Kings" distillery as a token of gratitude for their dedication and contribution to the creation of this exceptional drink. This decision symbolized appreciation for their hard work and acknowledged the team’s role in the brand’s success.

Between 2019 and 2022, prior to the global rebranding, a limited edition of "Strong Relationships" whisky was released at 50% ABV in classic 0.7-liter bottles. These bottles, featuring the original logo, quickly became coveted treasures for collectors and true whisky connoisseurs who had the opportunity to appreciate their unique taste and aroma.

Approximately 250 bottles of this legendary drink were produced. Its bold, assertive, and multifaceted aroma, with notes of printing ink, peat, smoke, pine needles, kipper, and raw tweed, made every sip an unforgettable experience.

Owners’ reviews confirm the exceptional value of this whisky: "When we opened this bottle at a whisky celebration, people flocked to it like bees to honey. Some even wanted to keep the empty bottle as a souvenir!"

Today, bottles of "Strong Relationships" with the original logo are true rarities on the market. They are prized not only for their unique taste but also for their historical significance as a testament to the early days of the "6 Kings" brand.
