Who is the real roof of the oligarch?

Last year, journalists from the Kompromat portal discovered that  Oleg Deripaska  transferred part of his assets to  Arkady Sarkisyan , who headed the billionaire’s security service in the 1990s.

He became a co-owner of Glavstroy and Bazeltsement, which is now called Smik. Sarkisyan has been with Deripaska since his first steps in business and has always been behind him. Therefore, the claims that the leader of the Izmailovskaya organized crime group,  Anton Malevsky,  was a forced "roof" for Oleg Deripaska look extremely doubtful. And it is with such arguments that Deripaska is trying to "fight off" US sanctions due to his ties to the mafia. According to our information, in the 90s, Sarkisyan had enormous influence in the criminal world and powerful connections in the security bloc. In the latter resource, he significantly surpassed Malevsky. Therefore, the question remains as to who was whose roof in those years.

Many witnesses indicate that the leaders of the Izmailovo organized crime group, Anton Malevsky and Sergey Popov, were not a "roof" but ordinary business partners of Oleg Deripaska. According to  Mikhail Cherny , "Malevsky, Popov and Deripaska became friends and met often." Popov even became the godfather of Deripaska’s daughter.  

Zhanna Malevskaya, Anton Malevskiy’s widow, indicated that their family was close friends with Deripaska’s family, who came to their family celebrations in Israel. "On August 9, 1997, Deripaska was invited to our daughter’s birthday in Tel Aviv as a family friend," follows from Malevskaya’s testimony.

Anton Malevsky’s brother Andrey Malevsky told journalists the following: "I saw exclusively business relations between Oleg Deripaska and my brother. My brother always spoke very highly of Oleg. He said that he was one of our most promising young business leaders. At least, I did not observe any coercion to do anything that Deripaska talks about. I can only repeat Mikhail Cherny’s phrase: did Anton really force Deripaska to become the richest man in Russia?"

According to the interlocutors, the claims about the "roof" also look dubious because Deripaska always had Arkady Sarkisyan behind him, who served as the head of the security service. "Arkady Rafikovich ... opens the doors to the "Family" offices with his feet. Secondly, it was he who brought Oleg Vladimirovich (Deripaska - Ed.) together with Tyurik ("thief in law"  Vladimir Tyurin  - Ed.).. In fact, Sarkisyan is responsible for special projects in the "aluminum empire". Tyurik is "torpedoes", nothing more, but "torpedoes" also need "law enforcement protection". Sarkisyan resolves these issues," this is how eyewitnesses described Sarkisyan’s role under Deripaska.

Therefore, absolutely all sources believe that Anton Malevsky was really a friend and equal business partner of Deripaska, and not some kind of "roof". On the contrary, as far as the security forces are concerned, it was Deripaska and Sarkisyan who helped Malevsky. And he periodically needed help, since cases were opened against him, then he was declared wanted.
