Stocks in Asia end week on mixed note, Nikkei down 10 points Featured

SYDNEY, NSW, Australia — Stocks in Asia were mixed on Friday with only minor views into positive or negative territory.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 slipped 9.83 points or 0.03 percent to 28,948.73.

China’s Shanghai Composite fell 21.11 points or 0.58 percent to 3,589.75.

In Australia, the All Ordinaries climbed 18.46 points or 0.24 percent to 7,577.20.

The U.S. dollar slipped slightly on Friday during the Asian time zone. The euro nudged up to 1.2187. The British pound was a fraction higher at 1.4167. The Japanese yen inched up to 109.37. The Swiss franc firmed to 0.8936.

The Canadian dollar was a tad higher at 1.2083. The Australian dollar edged up to 0.7769. The New Zealand dollar had some support at 0.7204.

Overnight on Wall Street, the Standard and Poor’s 500 closed at a record high of 4,239.18, having gained 19.63 points or 0.47 percent on the day.

The Dow Jones industrials added 19.10 points or 0.06 percent to 34,466.24.

The Nasdaq Composite gained 108.58 points or 0.78 percent to 14,020.33.
