SAN FERNANDO City, Feb. 7 (PIA) — To gear up for the roll-out of the provincial COVID-19 vaccination program, the provincial government of La Union created a vaccination task force and its technical working groups.
This has been institutionalized through Executive Order (EO) No. 1 series of 2021 issued by Governor Francisco Emmanuel Ortega in amendment to EOs No.15 and EO No.16 series of 2020.
The task force will focus on the details of the vaccination plan such as the cost of the program, anticipated material and human resource need, logistics and transport requirements, vaccine surveillance and monitoring.
"Nagbuo at nagtalaga na rin tayo ng La Union CoViD-19 Vaccination Task Force na mangunguna at mangangasiwa sa operasyon," Gov. Ortega said in his presentation of plans for 2021.
He further states that, "It will be included as part of the Provincial Core Team Against COVID-19 under the Health Emergency Response, Monitoring, Evaluation and Strategic Communications Committee."
Said task force will be led by Dr. Eduardo Posadas of the Provincial Health Office as the vaccination program coordinator alongside Ms. Noemi Jucar of the Office of Provincial Strategy. Dr. Dan William Dacanay, a medical specialist II, will be the vaccination operations manager.
The technical working group, on the other hand, will be composed of Alvin Cruz as head of the Surveillance, Contingency and Risk Management Group; Adamor Dagang for the Advocacy and Social Communication Group; Gerry Binas-o for the Registration, Documentation and Electronic Data Management Group; Catherine France for the Procurement and Budget Group; and Arven Camacho will be in charged of the Supply, Logistics, Cold Chain and Transport Management Group.
Meanwhile, the provincial government plans to allocate Php139 million for its vaccination program to procure some 40,000 regimens of vaccine in augmentation of what is coming from the national government. (JCR/VHS/CGC, PIA La Union)
